Question 1

How long should a wedding cocktail hour last?

Accepted Answer

Most cocktail hours run about 60 minutes, giving guests enough time to mingle and enjoy food and drinks while photos wrap up and the reception space is finalized.

Question 2

Is a grazing table or passed appetizers better for cocktail hour?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your guest count and vibe. Passed appetizers keep the energy moving and work well for larger groups, while grazing tables offer a beautiful visual centerpiece and work especially well for more relaxed, mingling-focused events.

Question 3

What's a budget-friendly way to elevate cocktail hour?

Accepted Answer

Focus your budget on one standout element, like a single signature cocktail or a well-styled grazing table, rather than spreading resources thin across every category.

Question 4

Do I need live music for cocktail hour?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. A curated playlist works well too, but live music, whether a duo, quartet, or soloist, does add a distinct, elevated atmosphere many couples love.

Question 5

How should I plan cocktail hour drinks around the season?

Accepted Answer

Lean into lighter, citrus-forward drinks for spring and summer, and warmer options like cider or bourbon cocktails for fall and winter, to keep the experience feeling seasonally appropriate and comfortable for guests.
